Biography of James Morrison

James Morrison was born in Boorwa, Australia on the 11th of November 1962.His dad worked as a church minister, he had two brothers Peter & John Morrison. James Morrison is notable for playing his instruments around the world especially the trumpet & plays for famous people like the Queen.



In 1969 when he was seven, he was given his first instrument the trumpet. In 1970 when he was eight James Morrison played for the school brass band. In 1971 at nine he formed a band.


When James was thirteen in 1975 he started playing professional in Nightclubs. At sixteen in 1978 he debuted in USA Monterey Jazz Festival. A year later in 1979 he joined Don Burrow’s band. At in 1980 graduated from NSW conservatorium of Music.


When nineteen in 1981 he was appointed lecturer at NSW conservatorium of Music. Two years later in 1983 he formed big band with Brother John. In 1987at twenty-five preformed & recorded with Dizzy Gillespie. At twenty-eight did a world tour with Ray Charles & B.B. King.


At thirty in 1992 preformed for President Bush at parliament house, Canberra. In 1996 when thirty-four preformed for President Clinton at the parliament house, Canberra. At forty-six in 2008 preformed for Queen Elizabeth the second.


When James was thirty in 1992 he was awarded Australian performer of the year. In 1997 at thirty-five was recognised for his service to arts in Australia & awarded a medal of the order of Australia. He plays the trumpet, trombone, euphonium, flugel horn, tuba, saxophones & piano.


James Morrison has had an exciting life, on the radio, on TV etc. Today James is still playing the trumpet & he was a guest on Top Gear, he makes us Aussie proud.
